Dina Afrianty

Dina is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Institute for Religion, Politics, and Society at the Australian Catholic University. She is also a Research Fellow at the Center for Social Difference, Columbia University and is an associate of the Centre for Indonesian Law, Islam and Society (CILIS) at the University of Melbourne Law School. Dina is affiliated with Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Syarif Hidayatullah State Islamic University, Indonesia

She was an Endeavour Post-Doctoral Research Fellow at the University of Melbourne where she also undertook her PhD. Her research focuses on gender and politics, international development, Islamic education and women’s rights in Muslim societies. Dina has a number of research publications on issues about Islam, women’s rights and Indonesia’s socio-political and religious development, and is the author of Women and Sharia Law in Northern Indonesia: Local Women’s NGOs and the Reform of Islamic Law in Aceh.
